The aim of every research-based biopharmaceutical organization is to discover and develop important new therapies for patients that address unmet medical needs. MannKind’s R&D organization relies on data, communication, collaboration, and operational effectiveness to build bridges within its scientists and support staff to create and deliver innovative medicines. It understands well the advantages of an entrepreneurial organization that is nimble enough to use innovative and novel technologies to develop therapies to help patients.Today, MannKind R&D is working on breakthrough therapies in the fields of metabolic disorders and oncology. Its research strategy embraces the concept of “Bench to Bedside and Bedside to Bench.” This translation of scientific information into clinical practice and then taking what is learned in the clinic and refining efforts in the laboratory aims at acquiring and sharing information across multiple disciplines. The result is the ability to optimize resources, generate innovative information and therapeutics and ultimately, increase the potential value of MannKind’s portfolio of new products.
