A long sought-after goal in the treatment of diabetes has been to produce a profile of insulin levels in the bloodstream that approximates the initial insulin spike normally seen in healthy individuals following the beginning of a meal.

In our clinical studies to date, we have consistently observed that the Technosphere® Insulin System produces peak insulin levels within 12-14 minutes of inhalation, which approximates the early insulin secretion normally seen in healthy individuals following the beginning of a meal. We believe that our ability to produce a better approximation of normal insulin physiology translates into better glucose control, thereby giving our investigational product potential clinical and commercial advantages.
